HOT RACKETS TENNIS COMPETITION 2020 CANCELLED – TRANSFERRED TO 2021
It was the 18th March 2020, just over 4 months ago since I last contacted all of our clubs, contacts, suspending the Hot Rackets 2020 competition due to the Coronavirus lockdown.
It certainly has been a long ‘unprecedented’ 4 months, which I hope everyone has come through safe & well, and hopefully getting back to some sort of normality.
As promised regarding the tennis competition ‘scene’, I have been keeping in close touch with Lee Evans of the Herts LTA, to monitor the latest/ongoing information from the Government & the LTA regarding County Inter Club Competition Tennis.
The latest LTA/Government guidelines is that County Inter Club Competition Tennis can recommence from last week, but there are still many safety/hygiene measures in place, regarding doubles match play, courts, clubhouses, etc, that still make it restrictive to play county ‘inter club’ competitive match play tennis.
Also a major factor is that many clubhouse facilities are not available as normal, especially regarding toilets, changing & refreshments/catering, etc.
The summer tennis season has naturally been shortened due to lockdown, safety measures, etc, and now we have the ‘August holiday period’, next month which will, as normal, mean many players are not available because of family holidays. With the loss of over 3 months of the normal season & to try and fit a 6 month playing season into the rest of the year, would also create a problem.
Also we have to think of many clubs/teams individual players with their own personal feelings of playing tennis & travelling to other clubs, etc, at the present time.
This is also going to affect teams of being able to fulfil fixtures with enough players.
Therefore having reviewed all of this, and discussions with Lee Evans/Herts LTA & other Hertfordshire Inter Club competitions, we have decided unfortunately, to cancel the Hot Rackets 2020 competition & transfer all present Entry Fees, Clubs/Teams, Divisions & Fixtures to the 2021 season.
As you know all the administration had been completed, divisions & fixtures, etc, were in place/ready to play from the 25th February 2020, with the first fixtures set to commence from the 4th April 2020, when the Coronavirus/Lockdown suspended all match play & tennis competitions in March.
Therefore all entry fees which are always applicable for all clubs/teams relating to the Hot Rackets administration/’setting up’ for the 2020 season will now be transferred to the 2021 season.
All clubs & teams, present divisions & fixtures will now apply to the 2021 season, therefore there will be no need to pay any entry fees for the 2021 season.
The web site will be changed in January 2021 as a straight transfer to show all existing 2020 Clubs/Teams, divisions & fixtures applicable to the 2021 calendar.
We will, as normal with every season, in January/February 2021 send out the divisions & fixtures as they are set out at present but applicable to 2021, to each club, captain, administrator & contact.
We will also in January/February 2021 send out the normal correspondence that is sent out every year before the start of the season.
Basically the 2020 Entry Fees, Clubs/Teams, divisions & fixtures will be transferred to the 2021 season, to start in April 2021 & run through to September 2021.
We will be contacting you again later in the year to confirm the start of the Hot Rackets season for 2021 as detailed above.
This has been an unprecedented situation for everyone this year, and has naturally affected everyone in all walks of life, as mentioned earlier hopefully everyone is slowly & carefully getting back to normal.
This obviously has affected our club tennis & competitions, so I hope you can all enjoy tennis at your own clubs, and maybe contact other clubs for friendly matches.
You will all have the contact details applicable to all clubs/teams captains, that we sent to you earlier in the year.
2019 DIVISIONAL WINNERS PLAQUES
All Club Divisional Champions from last season, 2019, you will be receiving your team divisional winners Plaques soon.
They were due to be made & sent in March as normal, when the Coronavirus Lockdown happened, therefore we couldn’t get the orders processed as the Plaque company closed down due to the virus lockdown.
We have contacted the company who are now just back to work, so the Plaques orders have now been placed & we are waiting for them to be completed.
Once received we will be sending them directly to the applicable clubs. Thanks.
