SEASON EXTENDED TO W/E SUNDAY 16th OCTOBER 2022 12th August 2022
DUE TO EXTREME HEAT/TEMPERATURES – MATCH CANCELLATIONS – SEASON NOW EXTENDED TO W/E SUNDAY 16th 0CTOBER 2022

To all Captains, Administrators & Contacts,

This year we are seeing extreme heat/temperatures above 30 degrees, and again the weather forecast for this Saturday & Sunday is showing temperatures of 37 Degrees.
It is important that players health & safety is a priority in such extreme, hot conditions.
Therefore we are adding a new section to the late match cancellation rule regarding short notice match/time cancellations (within 2 weeks before the agreed match date), relating to ‘Extreme Heat/Temperature Forecasts’ as follows:

EXTREME HEAT/TEMPERATURES FORECASTS-MATCH CANCELLATION OR NEW START TIME
Due to Extreme Heat/Hot Weather forecasts being confirmed much closer to the match date, Hot Rackets will accept that if a team, because of Extreme Heat/Temperatures forecast on the match date, can request to cancel a match within the 2 weeks cancellation rule/shorter notice, or request to change the start time to a cooler part of the day, in this case the other team cannot claim a walkover, and should work to agree to play the match, either agreeing a new match start time on the original match date, or a new match date, as suits both teams
PLEASE NOTE This will only apply to short notice ‘Extreme Heat/Temperature Cancellations’ of the original match date.
Once a match commences it can only be abandoned because of bad weather, (Rain, Ice or Snow), and cannot be abandoned for any other reason, including extreme heat. If this happens then the team who could complete the match will claim the match as a win.

In trying to rearrange an ‘Extreme Heat/Temperature Cancelled Match’, and especially in higher temperatures, both captains should look to playing matches in the cooler part of the day, either morning or early evening matches, and also consider evening mid-week matches, especially if lower/safer temperatures are forecast.

Because of this unusual ‘Extreme Heat/Temperature Cancellation Rule, and the possibility of more matches than normal being cancelled & rearranged, Hot Rackets have agreed to extend the season to now finish W/E: SUNDAY 16th OCTOBER 2022. Therefore the season has been extended by three weeks.

The normal rules apply whereby the captain/team who cancelled the match should confirm by email to me that the match is not going to be played on the original date and email the new match date & time, or confirm that a new date & time will be sent to me when agreed between both teams.

If a match is cancelled due to Extreme Heat/Temperature conditions and the match is not played by the Hot Rackets new extended end of season date, SUNDAY 16th OCTOBER 2022, the match will be subject to the standard non played match rule, (Rule 4.6), and will either be declared a void result, or walkover to one team, subject to the circumstances relating to both teams, especially in trying/working together to rearrange the match/time, before the end of season date.
This decision will be agreed by the present competition referee/s/administrator/s officiating the Herts Hot Rackets Two pair competition, whose decision shall be final.

Regards,

Tony
